Short Vacation over

A long weekend in northern Michigan has ended but part of my mind is still up there. Sigh...

I never made up unto the U.P. during my adventures in truckin' days. My dad and mom lived up there for a few months while he was working on natural gas pipeline project in '51 or '52, and I can remember my mom talkin' about how the black bears would often find a way to scatter their trash, regardless of what they did to thwart them. Was that where you were at???

The pictures are lovely and make me yearn to be near the water.

I've been to MI twice. The first time, we crossed over the Mackinac Bridge (scary and long) to get to our destination In the U.P.--a little point called Curtis. I learned to waterski there (also had my first and only leach experience--two or three of them on me when I got out of the water). But, man was it an amazingly beautiful place. My friend's family owned a cabin there on a lake (Manistique, I think). I have thought about that summer many times, and about the lake and the cabin and would love to visit there again.

Hope all is well with you and yours!
